Open, edit, save and share .notebook files from anywhere, at any time

Dubai, UAE: SMART Technologies (NASDAQ: SMT) (TSX: SMA) announces that its SMART Notebook Express web application, a lightweight version of the award-winning SMART Notebook collaborative learning software, is now available globally. SMART Notebook Express enables educators to open, edit, save and share .notebook files from anywhere, at any time, regardless of whether they have access to the Internet. Depending on their needs, users can access SMART Notebook Express online by visiting express.smarttech.com or offline by downloading SMART Notebook Express to their desktops. Both versions offer the same intuitive user interface. Educators who do not otherwise have access to SMART Notebook software will now be able to use SMART Notebook Express to open and interact with SMART Notebook lessons for use in their classrooms and to share those lessons with colleagues, students and parents. SMART Notebook Express is now available globally at no cost via express.smarttech.com.

SMART Notebook Express offers increased interoperability to support the needs of all users. The application is compatible with Microsoft® Windows®, Mac and Linux® operating systems and works with a variety of computing devices, including interactive whiteboards, interactive pen displays, laptops and tablet computers. No log-in information is required, so users have easy access to their SMART Notebook files and can edit text, open website links, view multimedia files and write over .notebook files using digital ink. The intuitive, easy-to-use features enable educators to customize lessons found on the SMART Exchange website (exchange.smarttech.com) and make it easy for students and parents to open and modify lessons from home or school. SMART Notebook Express offers all users the flexibility of opening, editing and sharing .notebook files, whether or not they do so from their SMART Board interactive whiteboard. To further support SMART's commitment to interoperability, SMART Notebook 10.7 collaborative learning software - expected by March 2011 - will support the interactive whiteboard common file format (.iwb), enabling users to import and export .iwb files to and from SMART Notebook software.
