Kuwait City, Kuwait - The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)-Medical University of Bahrain (MUB) will have a strong presence at the Kuwait Higher Education Fair 2007, which is being held from January 8 to 10.
The institution will highlight its high quality programs and future plans, with the aim of attracting more students from Kuwait to study in Bahrain.
"Almost 5% of our students are from Kuwait which clearly shows the huge interest the Kuwaitis have in pursuing Healthcare Education for the benefit of their country and its citizens," said Professor Kevin O'Malley, President, RCSI-MUB.
"By participating in this exhibition we hope to make the Kuwaiti people more aware of the fact that the RCSI, a world leader in healthcare education for over 200 years, is now closer than ever," he said.
"With a full university offering such a wide range of courses, students in Kuwait and elsewhere in the region no longer have to travel such long distances to get access to the world-renowned quality of education the RCSI has to offer," said Prof. O'Malley
The MUB is both listed in the WHO Directory of Medical Schools and accredited by the GCC Medical Schools Deans' Committee, making it particularly attractive to students.
"It is important for the region to have a strong local medical workforce. Expatriates could leave during times of crisis, leaving a void that could be detrimental to countries' health security," continued Prof. O'Malley.
The stand is expected to be a huge draw at the expo, which is being held under the patronage of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Shaikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah.
In addition to the MUB's Medical and Nursing schools, representatives will highlight training programs the university regularly organizes in Dubai. It will also showcase its future plans, including a new campus which will be adjacent to the planned new King Hamad General Hospital at Muharraq.
This hospital will be the main teaching hospital of the MUB Medical School. In addition, the University will have access to the hospitals and health centers of the Ministry of Health, through the offices of the Minister of Health of Bahrain.
"We are proud of our well-integrated multinational student body which consist of almost 30 different nationalities. We believe that this diversity is a valuable asset, giving students from different backgrounds the opportunity to interact and learn from each other's experiences," added Prof. O'Malley.
