Ras Laffan, Qatar, 13 May 2004: RasGas management and senior company officials welcomed their second dedicated LNG carrier, 'Maersk Ras Laffan' to load its maiden cargo of RasGas LNG at Ras Laffan Port.  The vessel, the second of six LNG carriers to be acquired by Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited(11), is owned by A.P.M?ller and Qatar Shipping Company (Q-Ship).

The 'Maersk Ras Laffan' was built by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) at their Geoje Island Shipyard in Korea. The vessel is a 'Gaztransport-Technigaz Mark III Membrane' type LNG tanker, with a cargo carrying capacity of 138,000 cubic metres of LNG.

Under the terms of the 25 year Charter Agreement construction of the vessel commenced on 12th April 2002 and in a ceremony to mark the occasion, the 'Maersk Ras Laffan' was delivered to RasGas (II) on the 27th of April 2004 at the Samsung shipyard in Geoje Island.

RasGas (II) will utilise the vessel to deliver LNG from its facilities at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Ras Laffan, Qatar to it's growing portfolio of customers serving both the spot and dedicated trade market as required.
