BEIRUT, Lebanon - Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's leading association for the project management profession, announced a collection of free digital offerings to help professionals continue to build skills and prepare to advance in a post COVID-19 world. The Resources for the New Work Ecosystem include a variety of free online courses and virtual events on topics like project management for beginners and business continuity.

As COVID-19 drives all organizations to work and collaborate in new ways, companies across sectors and industries are undergoing massive pressure to transform their business with fewer resources and greater efficiency. Given all the change occurring in the workplace, now is the time for organizations and professionals to invest in refreshing their skills so they can be ready to handle whatever future disruption comes their way. Project managers and project-based skills in general will play a pivotal role in helping the world rebound from COVID-19 as this skillset is essential to turn ideas into reality.

In fact, according to the BRIGHTLINE® Strategic Transformation report, organizations that transform quickly are almost 2x as likely to focus on developing internal talent. And even more so, another PMI report found that US$1 million is wasted every 20 seconds collectively by organizations around the globe due to the ineffective implementation of business strategy through poor project management practices. This equates to roughly US$2 trillion dollars wasted a year.

“In today’s environment, organizations and individuals need to be more proactive and agile in their response to change – whether it comes from the market, a competitor or the economy,” said Eng. Grace Najjar, Managing Director, PMI MENA. “By launching the online resources, we aim to help professionals navigate this new ecosystem of work so they can be ready for anything. As leaders increasingly look to those that can proactively drive change and deliver results, our goal is to help empower professionals to act as these ‘change makers’ at their organizations.”

Many of the resources and courses offered through this new online hub will benefit candidates in need of Professional Development Units (PDUs), as well as those that are looking to build new skills, practices and knowledge sets. PMI is also offering its PMP®, PMI-ACP® and CAPM® certification exams in an online proctored setting, allowing professionals to take the course from their homes or offices.

The Resources for the New Work Ecosystem was launched globally in March of this year. Within its first month, PMI awarded more than 372,000 free PDUs to the global community – which equates to US$7.5 million worth of free PDUs in just 30 days. Additionally, PMI’s online proctored PMP exam was launched globally in April of this year. It has already reached almost five thousand candidates in the MENA region, the second highest region globally.
