Leading networking distributor pushes 3Com initiatives to its channel partners around the region

Middle East, 09 January 2005: OnLine Distribution, the Middle East's leading distributor for networking products and solutions and authorised 3Com distributor, has been actively pushing some of 3Com's channel initiatives amongst its partners around the region. These initiatives include special promotions that run through to end February 2005, training and certification.

Promotions

Between 29th November 2004 and 27th February 2005, OnLine is offering its reseller several of 3Com's channel promotions including the Gigabit Cash Back Program, Wireless promotion and the Trade-up offer.

Under the Gigabit Cash Back Program, resellers can claim back cash up to $400 on sales of selected 3Com Gigabit switches including 3Com SuperStack3 Switch 3870, the world's first wire speed, stackable Gigabit Switch with 10G support. The 3Com Wireless promotion offers rebates on the sales of 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless products while the Trade Up Program offers thirty percent discounts on standard buy price for selected Gigabit and Fast Ethernet 3Com switches.

Training And Certification

3Com is also offering its channel partners special training and certification courses to choose from. Course work often includes hands-on exercises with up-to-the-minute software and/or equipment, exposure you might not otherwise have.

According to K. Ganesan, Divisional Director, Online Distribution, "For our partners, these certification courses serves as independent evidence that they have demonstrated the skills and abilities required to complete (the program). It is a sign of their commitment to their clients and the technology."

New product introduction

In addition to the various 3Com channel initiatives, OnLine has also announced the availability of 3Com's Baseline Switch 2226-PWR Plus, the first Power over Ethernet switch, priced and feature-optimised for the "small to medium business" (SMB) market segment.

"This is the market's first true SMB, all-port, Power over Ethernet convergence switch," said Zakir Lokare, 3Com Business Unit Manager at Online Distribution. "This new Switch is the latest in a new family of switches called, Baseline Plus Family."

The Baseline Switch 2226-PWR Plus is a Web-configurable, 10/100 Power over Ethernet Switch with 24 10/100 ports and 2 SFP slots and delivers up to 15.4W of inline power as per the IEEE 802.3af standard. This unique value based product offers industry leading features and flexibility to the SMB customer.
