Muscat: Oman Tourism College (OTC) recently signed a partnership agreement with Royal Tulip Hotel Muscat, which will see the hotel will provide training to the college’s students in the hospitality sector as well as the opportunity to participate in the events organised by the hotel. This agreement seeks to ensure that students from OTC are up-to-date with all the developments in the hospitality sector and other various associated activities. This way, the college can enable them to be more efficient and prepared for future prospects by equipping them with essential skillsets.
Commenting the agreement, Mohamed Shamis Al Rawahi, Head of Internships & Placement at OTC said, “OTC holds great importance to training programmes, as we believe it is an integral part of the students’ study plan regardless of their major. In addition to the theoretical knowledge that the students receive from their academic courses, the tourism and hospitality sectors and other related activities are segments that require practical experience and field training. We are grateful to our partners, the Royal Tulip Hotel Muscat and also those in other tourism establishments, for their cooperation and support to hosting our students in their leading facilities. I am sure that this experience will be a great addition to the students’ career as it will allow them to be ready to step into the job market, immediately after graduation.”
As part of their course requirements, the Customer Service students recently completed an internship at the Royal Tulip Hotel Muscat. The training focused on several topics that included personal development, customer service, supervisory, communication and documentation.
OTC, a subsidiary of Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN), is keen to organise various activities and events aimed at keeping its students aware of the latest updates in the tourism and hospitality sectors and their related fields. The college placed a great emphasis on the various training programmes to enhance the skills and knowledge of its students to prepare them for their role in developing the tourism sector in the Sultanate and take advantage of the job opportunities it provides.
