Employees in 47 countries give local communities a boost

DUBAI, UAE - More than 200 Motorola employees volunteered in Dubai 10 October 2007 on the company's second annual Global Day of Service. The local work is part of a larger event mobilizing 11,000 Motorola employees in 47 countries to volunteer in their local communities.

The Motorola employees took a half day off work to volunteer at 300 projects that address a variety of community concerns, including education, health environmental sustainability and social services.

Locally, more than 130 children will benefit from the Motorola's work at these local projects:

· The City Of Hope Food Donation, a shelter for abused women and children in Dubai
· Dubai Center for Special Needs, a non-profit organization providing education & training to disabled children

"Motorola cares about the communities we serve, and we're using both our minds and our muscles to show it," said Ed Zander, Motorola chief executive officer. "We are proud of the talent, creativity and dedication our employees demonstrate in the community on this day and throughout the year."

Thousands of Motorola employees also will participate in in-office projects such as a global giving drive to benefit the United Nation Children's Fund's (UNICEF) School-in-a-Box program, which is used around the world to get children back to school in the first 72 hours of an emergency. Each kit contains supplies and materials for a teacher and up to 80 students. This Global Day of Service campaign complements a grant of $100,000 to the School-in-a-Box program by the Motorola Foundation, which has supported education and community services worldwide since 1953.

"The MOTOCARE Global Day of Service will enable Motorola employees in Dubai to focus on one of our main areas of charitable giving - children in need", explains Patrick Mulligan, country manager of Motorola UAE.
