HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai gave ordered the establishment of a specialized hospital "Al Jalila Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Hospital for Children" as the country's first fully specialized and state-of-art children's hospital. The establishment of such hospital comes as a gift from HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid to the children of the UAE on the occasion of his daughter AL Jalila's first birthday on December 2nd, which coincides with the UAE's 37th celebrations of the National Day.
The objective of establishing a specialized children hospital is to provide comprehensive secondary and tertiary care to children in the region including the delivery of acute care services requiring specialized skills, technology and support services consolidated in a one delivery center. The hospital will be delivering medical and health care services that meet the needs of children, young people, and their parents; in addition, the hospital will also provide effective and safe care through appropriately trained and skilled workforce in a suitable and child friendly environment.
The Children's Hospital will be located in Dubai and will have a 200 bed capacity with the following specialized departments; pediatric trauma center; heart center; nephrology center, orthopedic center, transplant unit, clinical neurosciences and behavioral medicine, surgical departments, outpatient clinics, dialysis unit, and oncology care.
HE Qadi Al Mrooshid Director General of Dubai Health Authority said that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE Ruler of Dubai, has been briefed on the initial designs and has proved them in principle, until His Highness directs on the adoption of a particular design for this hospital. Al Mrooshid believes that the establishing this hospital is necessary and meet the urgent need in the near future. Mrooshid added that the Dubai Health Authority will assume responsibility for operating and managing this one of its kind hospital in the region according to the latest and highest international standards which Dubai and the UAE are renowned for in many sectors, such as health, education, management, economy and other sectors of sustainable development.
Al Moorshid deeply thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed as this gesture reflects His parental feelings and responsibility towards the UAE children and childhood in general. His Highness is a true father who does not spare the sons and daughters of the country with His inexhaustible generosity.
