The only CIPD accredited Masters Programme in the Gulf

DUBAI: Middlesex University Dubai (MDX), one of the most reputed institutions in the UAE offering demand-oriented educational programmes, has re-launched its innovative course in response to the increased challenges that the field of Human Resources is experiencing.

The university is re-launching a Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD)-accredited Masters of Arts in Human Resource Management, the first and only Degree Programme of its kind in the entire Gulf region.

According to Neelofer Mashood, the Programme Coordinator at the MDX Dubai Campus, "the functions of human resources and personnel management are increasingly growing in importance. The current thinking is that HR is expected to play a pro-active role in the affairs of an organization rather than a reactive one that it had historically played".

"Human Resources departments today not only hire employees who are the best fit for their jobs but also groom and nurture these employees with appropriate training and develop their 'functional' and 'soft' skills and try to "instill" among the employees a team spirit and an organizational culture that enhances competitiveness," she said.

Speaking about the latest offering of the university, Neelofer Mashood said that the new course, Master of Arts in HRM, has a number of key qualities and benefits, which include a schedule that suits working professionals and internationally reputed faculty who regularly fly in from London to teach the programme.

A Key highlight of the programme is CIPD-accreditation. CIPD qualifications are internationally recognized as a benchmark for professionalism and are a requirement for many personnel and development roles in multinational corporations. Today, the CIPD has over 133,000 members globally and this number is growing. Membership of CIPD is highly respected and very positively recognized by employers.

"The growing role of HR has led to the setting up of professional bodies like CIPD, which is based in London, to promote professionalism and best practices. The CIPD is regarded as the international leading professional body for those involved in the field of personnel, training, and development. Membership of CIPD can be obtained through various routes - it is either awarded to individuals with extensive experience and/or significant contribution to the field of HR, or it can be obtained by an individual by taking a CIPD-accredited qualification from a CIPD-certified institution," Ms. Mashood said.

"Even later when the world economy recovers, many organizations would be looking to keep their costs low and yet keep their employees motivated. It would be a tremendous challenge for the HR professionals, and the role of HR would become all the more crucial for organizations," added Ms. Mashood.
