Measures to check the sale of counterfeit watches of popular brands were discussed by the members of the Gold and Jewellery Group at a meeting organized recently by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

The meeting also discussed a proposal to set up an information counter of the DTCM in Gold Souq for the benefit of the tourists who comes in hundreds to this popular landmark every day.

The meeting was attended among others by the DTCM Senior Manager Business Development, Ms. Lina Dergham.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Department of Economic Development (DED) and Dubai Police. It discussed measures to prevent the sale of counterfeit watches of popular brands in the Gold Souq in addition to preventing the local tour operators from taking tourists to specific shops of their own choice.

Among those present in the meeting were DTCM Manager Visitors Information Bureau, Mr. Salah Al Ansari, DTCM Deputy Manager Entertainment and Inspection, Mr. Mohammed Khalifa, Director of Department of Tourist Security of Dubai Police, Major Mohammed Rashid, and Captain Fahad Al Bannai of the Economic Crimes Department.

The meeting, which is held regularly, will soon be held again in order to take necessary actions to enforce the issues discussed.
