CAIRO, Egypt:Majid Al Futtaim, a leading shopping centredevelopment, integrated city and retail and entertainment company across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has launched five community initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan in Egypt this year. As part of the company's long-term commitment to Egyptian society, Majid Al Futtaim seeks to provide support and assistance to various members of the community through its collaboration with local institutions including the Egyptian Red Crescent Foundation, The People of Egypt Hospital, The Haya Egypt Fund, the Egyptian Food Bank and the Cine9 Sustainable Industries Foundation.
Majid Al Futtaim has set up donation funds for the Egyptian Red Crescent in all branches of Carrefour Egypt to collect cash donations, which will be dedicated to supporting Red Crescent efforts in areas including health services, sterilization, psychosocial support, and distribution of food boxes. The Red Crescent is also working with the Red Crescent to provide health guidance on proper prevention procedures for all customers, employees and suppliers in Carrefour stores, and a Red Crescent volunteer team is also in place to help sterilize all of the company's stores and maintain a safe environment for all.
Majid Al Futtaim supports The People of Egypt Hospital by providing financial assistance for the purchase of personal protective equipment for staff and medical staff, and Carrefour collects the rest of the jawfrom all its branches throughout Ramadan and provides it to the hospital. This initiative comes in the belief of the company of the great role played by the medical staff in Egypt and their interminable dedication to saving lives.
In addition, Majid Al Futtaim is collaborating for the second year in a row with the Haya Egypt Fund to support low-incomeworkers by donating 2,500 Ramadan cartons, following the company's accession last year to the "Shop of Joy" initiative.
The company has also provided a number of Ramadan balls to support employees of Sen 9, which produces Carrefour brand environmentally friendly bags, which train and employ low-income people.
Majid Al Futtaim's support also extends to day-to-day workers whose business escrow has been affected by the current health and economic situation in Egypt, where the company has announced its contribution to the "Support for Everyday Labor Responsibility" initiative from the Egyptian Food Bank. Carrefour offers its customers the opportunity to donate while shopping through the Carrefour online store where they can donate two Ramadan or five pounds and Carrefour will collect and double donations in support of the initiative.
"We are very pleased to contribute to the launch and support of these various and necessary initiatives in light of the current global events," said Jean-Luc Graziato, Director of Carrefour Egypt at Majid Al Futtaim Retail. Majid Al Futtaim is part of the fabric of Egyptian society, and we in Carrefour are always there for him, and we hope that we can help as many families as possible during the holy month. I thank all our dear partners for their great efforts and fruitful and continuous cooperation between us, as these efforts complement our previous cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent, the Egyptian People's Hospital, the Egyptian Living Fund and the Sin 9 Foundation, and it is the first cooperation we have with the Egyptian Food Bank, and we hope that this cooperation will continue in the future."
