At Light Middle East 2015, Lutron presents Quantum Vue - its new Facility Management tool to manage light and temperature inside buildings from anywhere and from any device

Dubai, UAE - Lutron Electronics, the global lighting, shade and temperature control expert, is presenting its comprehensive range of energy management and control solutions at Light Middle East 2015. Lutron's energy saving products offer smart solutions for the cost effective control and Facility Management of commercial environments such as corporate buildings and offices, thus leading to significant cost savings for new developments as well as renovation projects.

Workplace lighting can impede business growth. In most office buildings, lighting accounts for around 39% of annual electricity use. The figures climb higher in specialized settings such as healthcare facilities (43%) and hotels (55%). As energy costs rise, creating an energy-efficient workplace becomes an increasing priority for business.

A whole building solution helps companies reach full energy efficiency. The New York Times cut $600,000 from its annual lighting costs after installing the Lutron Quantum system. After installing EcoSystem, a Houston building saved $50,000 on its electric lighting bill, and saw a $16,000 reduction in air conditioning expenses. Reducing uncomfortable hotspots and glare also improves personnel's productivity.

Light control also decreases HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) energy costs. Lutron shading systems reduce the amount of solar heat gain that enters a space while reducing glare. Shades can also be controlled by Hyperion, Lutron's solution to automatically adjust shades based on the sun's position throughout the day, taking into account the season, building location and faade.

Dimming lights is the perfect start to saving energy. A single Lutron dimmer saves a business more than $85 annually, which can quickly represent several thousand dollars of savings in large-size commercial developments. Furthermore, Lutron's commercial dimmers are designed to last at least 10 years. Upgrading to dimmers not only improves the comfort of work space, it improves the return on investment as well.

Mr. Shadi Kharouf, Lutron Sales Director for Middle East, Turkey and Central Asia, said: "With the regional focus on developing smart and sustainable knowledge economies, energy management and cost savings are quickly rising to the top of the corporate agenda in the Middle East. Lutron's range of solutions for lighting, shade and temperature control, such as our Quantum Vue Facility Management software for Smart Buildings, helps optimize the corporate environment, and creates efficient - and energy efficient - workplaces whilst reducing costs."

Quantum Vue Facility Management Software
The heart of Lutron's Quantum solution is Quantum Vue -- Quantum's powerful software that allows facility managers to manage their electric light and daylight for maximum energy efficiency, comfort, and productivity. Lutron's new Facility Management tool enables companies to manage their buildings from anywhere, easily monitoring, controlling and optimizing a Lutron control system from any tablet, PC or smartphone. From any central location, a facility manager can control electric lights and blinds, as well as configure, monitor, analyze, and report on the light system in the building.

Quantum Vue software includes two types of time clocks: a time-of-day clock (e.g. 8 p.m. weeknights), and an astronomic clock (e.g. sunrise and sunset). Lights can automatically be set to a preset level or to turn on or off in certain spaces based on the time of day.

Blinds can automatically raise or lower in certain spaces at specific times. Conditional programming can also allow controls to operate differently based on the time of the day. For example, occupancy sensors can be disabled during working hours, but re-enabled in non-working hours.

Quantum Vue provides reports and diagnostics that allow facility managers to improve maintenance and operations, identify issues before they become problems, and monitor lighting energy consumption in the whole building or any part of the building.

Commercial Smart Grid Solutions
Lutron commercial smart grid solutions allow a facility to respond to load shed requests automatically, or at the touch of a button.

The smart grid is the modernization of the electricity supply system. It monitors, protects, and automatically optimizes the operation of its interconnected elements in order to guarantee the supply of electricity. Consumers of electricity are asked to reduce their consumption (shed load) at critical periods, and receive financial incentives for doing so.

Lutron smart grid solutions contain load shedding software that can easily reduce the lighting load to a pre-programmed level either at the touch of a button or via an automatic command. Power reductions can be implemented gradually, so that they go unnoticed by the occupants in a building.

Actual savings may vary depending on use and application. Stated savings based on dimming (4) 75 W incandescent reflector lamps (rated at 1500 hrs each, costing $1.75 per lamp or 3000 hour halogen bulbs costing $3.35 per lamp) by 50% (perceived light level corresponding to 40% reduction in power level) for 5 hrs per day with electricity cost of $0.104/kWh.
