 The Advantage Greater Paris: New Opportunities in Finance & Real Estate seminar was opened today by Thierry Jacquillat, Chairman of Paris-Ile de France Capitale Economique, who highlighted the advantages of Greater Paris compared to other real estate markets in the world.

He stated that a record of 17.5 billion (Dh77 billion) was invested in Greater Paris in 2005, a 44 per cent increase over the previous year. "We are bolstering the attractiveness of Greater Paris by lobbying political and economic decision-makers from around the globe. I believe that businessmen from the Middle East in general and the cosmopolitan UAE in particular would benefit from investing in the Greater Paris real estate market" he commented.

More than 100 Middle Eastern businessmen, entrepreneurs and VIPs attended this third annual seminar of Paris Ile de France Capitale Economique at the Royal Mirage Palace in Dubai. The event was held under the patronage of HE Patrice Paoli, Ambassador of France to the UAE.

Greater Paris offers 48 million square meters of available office real estate, the second  largest in the world after Tokyo but ahead of London, New York and Chicago. The region has several advantages such as an efficient transportation network and leads in research and development with the highest concentration of 70,000 researchers in Europe. It is interesting to note that top-of-the-line consumer products in Paris are half as expensive as London.
