His Excellency acted as President of the Jury for the 10th Edition of the prestigious Award, open to Spanish, Portuguese and Arab Architects.

The 11th Edition of the ThyssenKrupp Architecture Award will be held in 2008 in Dubai.

H.E. Mr. Sultan Bin Saeed Al-Mansoori, Minister for Government Sector Development for the UAE and President of the Jury for 10th Edition of the ThyssenKrupp Architecture Awards, accompanied by the Mayor of Granada, José Torres Hurtado, and the CEO of ThyssenKrupp Elevator Southern Europe, Africa & Middle East, Javier del Pozo, presided the Award Ceremony for the 10th Edition of the ThyssenKrupp Architecture Award, held yesterday in Granada in Andalusia, Spain. H.E. Mr. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, was also present at this event.

This 10th edition of the Award requested architectonic ideas and proposals to redevelop the site currently occupied by railway facilities in the city of Granada in Andalusia, including the construction of a new terminal railway station for the high-speed train.

First Prize went to the team headed by Spaniard Eva López de la Fuente for her proposal "Blancoverdeyrojo" (White, red & green), for an underground train station, with spaces for gardens and commercial areas above. Eva López studied architecture at Granada University and is currently a professor at Innsbruck University School of Architecture in Austria.

More than 400 architects from Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine, Libya, Kuwait, and Morocco participated in this very successful 10th edition, the first to include participation from Arab countries.

The ThyssenKrupp Architecture Award was held for the first time in 1988 and, since then, all the major cities in Spain and Portugal have played host.

The reach of this prestigious award continues to grow. Next year the ThyssenKrupp Architecture Award will be a fully-international award, held in Dubai in the UAE, and be open to accredited architects from round the world. The 11th Edition in Dubai will be announced early in 2008.
