Unit to Tour New Areas of Muscat As Project Continues to Grow and Develop

Muscat, 17 September, 2011:  Haya Water is taking its state of the art mobile exhibition unit back on the road in September as the company continues its campaign to get out and about across Muscat to educate the public about its world class water reuse project that is now being constructed.

The mobile unit was first unveiled at the Muscat Festival in January and since then has been actively used to visit a number of locations across the area including visits to colleges, public areas, shopping locations and others as Haya Water takes it message to the people.

Haya Water's massive water reuse project is now well underway and will be the biggest infrastructure development of its kind and complexity, and one of the single largest construction and development projects ever undertaken in the Sultanate.

An exhibition contained in the mobile unit, along with a fully trained team of Haya Water professionals, enables the Haya story to be told in an easy to understand and follow manner that demonstrates the full extent and positive impact that the project will have to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families in the short and long term.

The company has been committed since the outset to ensuring that it has incorporated the most advanced and sophisticated sewage treatment technology into its project that will transform Muscat and help make it a better city for now and in the future.

That is also being reflected in the way that the company is reaching out to the public through its mobile unit that tells the story of how the project is being implemented, the technology that is being used, the benefits it brings to families and the wider community, and how reused water is regenerating the Al Ansab Wetlands project and solid waste is being converted into compost at the Kala Composting Plant.

Haya Water's operations are already starting to make a difference to the lives of tens of thousands of Omani citizens and residents every day helping to improve their quality of life and the environment around them.

Following on from the successful introduction of the unit at the Muscat Festival in January and February, the unit has been present at the Modern College, an engineering student gathering at SQU in April, venues in Mubeila, Al Khoud, Bousher, Athaiba and Qurum. The unit was also present at Iftar celebrations supported by Haya Water in the communities of Bousher, Seeb, Amerat, Quriyat, Muscat and Muttrah respectively.

Commenting on the Mobile Unit and its successful activities to date, Sulayem al Hakmani, Acting GM Commercial Department at Haya said: "We have been delighted with the hugely positive feedback Haya Water has received when we take the unit out on the road and interact with the general public.

"It gives people an opportunity to meet us face to face and find out more about the hugely positive impact that the water reuse project will have on the everyday lives of everyone who lives and works in the Muscat Municipality area.

"We are able to explain in great detail how and when individual homes will be connected to the new modern piped system that will take waste water away from homes and offices to be treated. A total of 75 per cent of the treated effluent is being supplied for irrigation and other purposes across the Muscat Governorate"

Treated effluent from the water reuse project is used for greening parks, public areas, golf courses, developers for their projects and roadside landscaping. Connecting 80 per cent of Muscat residences to the new modern system will relieve Muscat residents from smelly septic tanks and the hassle of obtaining a truck to remove away raw sewage from private homes and businesses across the whole of Muscat - making life healthier for families and children.
