Dubai - January 20, 2008: The design for the Business Central Towers situated on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, as created by the UAE based Gulf Steel Industries FZC (GSI), recently landed the company first place for steel structural works in the StruCad International Drawing Competition. A subsidiary of Arabtec Holding PJSC, GSI, is one of the UAE's leading structural steel fabrication companies, specializing in the design, fabrication and erection of structural steel works.  GSI excelled against strong competition from international companies such as those in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

GSI was established in 2005 in the Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah in response to the increasing demand for quality structural steel buildings and products and at the beginning of 2008, Arabtec Holding PJSC announced that it had acquired 55% of GSI.

According to StruCad (the entity behind the 3D structural steel detailing technology system) 'accuracy and speed' were the key criterion when it came to the utilization of the 3D structural steel detailing package. GSI detailed the design of the structural steel works of Business Central Towers (part of the Al Kazim Group development project in Dubai) in less than 3 months using the said technology.

"The winning of this award is a great honor for Gulf Steel Industries and comes in tandem with the firm's joining with Arabtec" said Rami Al Qaisi GSI Managing Director, "since GSI's establishment, we have always endeavored to deliver the best".

"We are aware that for any firm to be consistently successful in its activities, it is paramount for it to team with the industry's finest - in GSI's case that means working with the StruCad software and further developing ourselves through Arabtec."

The Business Central Towers project features three basement levels, a ground floor and an eight storey podium plus two 52-storey towers rising 44 floors above the podium to a height of 203m. Rising above the towers are two aesthetically-designed roofs which stand at 265m. The tower's roof structure consists of approximately 1200 tons of steelwork which has been formed into intricate arches. GSI's other projects include the Automated Car Park in Dubai.
