The Montana Thermal Break 120 mm System has been tested for energy conservation, sound reduction and water & dust proofing
Gulf Extrusions, one of the largest aluminium extrusion plants in the Gulf, has announced the launch of its Montana Thermal Break 120 mm Sliding System, which is used to provide insulation in sliding doors and windows.
The new sliding system is designed for heavy duty use and meets the specifications of the American National Standard. The system was successfully tested against various parameters including air infiltration, water penetration, sound reduction, energy conservation, wind pressure and wind resistance in terms of serviceability and safety. In addition, the sliding system was subject to a special thermal transmittance test and the results fully satisfied all parameters.
"The importance of thermal conductivity in the aluminum frame is underlined when we consider that the frame accounts for an average of 25 per cent of the total window surface. The Montana Thermal Break System will be ideally suited for use in residential, commercial and industrial set ups and we foresee major demand for the system across the Middle East," said Robert Holtkamp, Director of Sales and Marketing, Gulf Extrusions.
The new system consists of a single frame and shutter profile that will be used on all four sides, with snap-on track clips.
For better performance of the system, alignment cleats for the frame and shutter are used along with durable weather sealing mastic at all joints. In addition, specially designed EPDM gaskets are made available with the system to enhance performance and facilitate easy assembly. Accessories such as rollers and flush handles are also provided as part of the system.
"As the market today demands window and door systems in a variety of colours, this system has been designed to allow the application of all presently known surfaces suitable for use with aluminum, either after or before the thermal break strips have been assembled," he added.
Gulf Extrusions, which produces over 9,000 profiles, ranging from architectural sections to components for household items, AC grills and customised products, produced 21 types of profiles for the thermal break sliding system. The company also extrudes products of several European suppliers and companies under agreement. Nearly 70 per cent of the output generated by Gulf Extrusions is used in the local market to support the building and construction projects. The export markets include South East Asia, GCC countries, Europe and Canada.
