Dubai, 15 July 2013: The Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi,the Consulate General in Dubai and The Dubai Mallare proud to present the exhibition "Leonardo Da Vinci- The Genius and His Inventions", taking place in Dubai for the first time in the prestigious Grand Atrium of The Dubai Mall.

On show are forty life size machines, whichare faithful reproductions of Leonardo Da Vinci's originaldesigns, enshrined in the Da Vinci Codes, amajor recollection of inventions that changed theworld.

The exhibition focuses on Leonardo's contribution to technology, highlighting the ingenuity of the famous Italian, who was also a world class painter, sculptor and literate. Genius Srl, thecompany that brought the exhibition to the United Arab Emirates, started reproducing the full-scale machines based on the 15th century designs of Leonardo a few years ago in Rome, Italy. The machines  were  built  and glued together using wood,  cords   and ropes and  each  model  is  accompanied  by  descriptive  panels with reproductions of Leonardo's original drawings. The machines and the devices designed by Leonardoare grouped into 4 sections: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire.An application called "Leonardo - Il Genio e leInvenzioni" is available on ITunesin nine languages explaining the exhibits in every detail.

Consul General Giovanni Favilli said: "Leonardo daVinci is the most significant representative of the Italian Renaissance. By showing his inventions, we want to provide historical evidence of the everlasting Italian talent for innovation,  creativity and engineering that continues today. Leonardo was a man of vision and it is only right that his works are presented in the city that has shown most vision in the twenty first century, Dubai, and in one of its landmarks, The Dubai Mall."

The exhibition is permanently housed at Piazza della Cancelleria in Rome, while apart of it travels around the world. In June it was shown in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of and inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture of the United Arab Emirates. It has already been shown in Austria, Germany and Turkey, recording more than 8,000 visitors per month. In Italy, on average there are 100,000 visitors a year, of which 30% are school pupils. Consul General Favilli expects to post record visits in The Dubai Mall.

The exhibition, which was inaugurated last night by the Ambassador of Italy in the United Arab Emirates, Giorgio Starace, was made possible thanks to generous collaboration of The Dubai Mall management, Danieli Officine Meccaniche, Coxand Kings Global Services and Siddco.
