Commercial International Bank (CIB) held an elegant celebration at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza to recognize the companies and establishments which have partnered CIB to remarkable success in the field of Cards Acquiring business. Represented in the celebration were participants from many sectors of the Egyptian economy including Telecommunications, Tourism, Hotels, Restaurants and Apparel , Jewellery, Retail in addition to Supermarkets and Hypermarkets.

The celebration was attended by Hisham Ezz Al Arab, Chairman and Managing Director of Commercial International Bank (CIB), as well as the CIB Cards Business team and a large number of executives from companies that use CIB Point of Sale (POS) machines.

The unique event commenced with a welcome note from Chairman Ezz Al Arab where he highlighted that the success of the Cards Acquiring Business is a clear reflection of the advanced products and concepts which CIB brings to the Egyptian banking sector. CIB continuously engages in active participation in all economic activities with the ultimate objective of playing the role of financial intermediary in an effective manner so as to stimulate demand for products and services and aid Egypt's economic growth.

Amidst strong press corps coverage, CIB honored the companies which have given the highest volumes of financial transactions on CIB Point of Sale (POS) Machines in 2008. The distinguished company representatives received plaques and certificates of achievement recognizing their strong business performance.

Tamer Kashef, CIB Cards Business Head, noted that "Commercial International Bank (CIB) has launched the Cards Acquiring Business in the Egyptian market in August 2007 and has witnessed strong and sustained growth to reach a current market share of 21%. This success has been predicated on our ability to mix state-of-the-art POS machines with distinguished customer service. Our current market footprint stands at over 6,000 POS machines in various economic sectors processing financial transactions on Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners cards every day."
