Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - The Central Testing Laboratory of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was ranked first in the 12th Dubai International Food Safety Conference and has been granted International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) membership. The Lab participated with a scientific paper on the bacteria legionella in water. This paper was selected among 150 other papers from the United Arab Emirates and around the world and was honored with the first place certificate.

The paper was presented during the conference organized by Dubai Municipality at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center. Its main focus was on the importance of studying emerging risks and building a baseline data using different detection methods, while continuing the periodic monitoring of water systems in cooperation with strategic partners.

The Central Testing Lab came in first place after passing with a scientific paper submitted to the evaluation criteria which was judged by global evaluators, including the Executive Director of the Food Laws and Regulations Institute (IFLR) at Michigan State University, USA, and evaluators form the Faculty of Food Science & Technology at University of Georgia, USA.

The paper attracted the attention of the audience, including the Executive Chairman of the International Federation of Environmental Health, the founder of the Food Laws and Regulations Institute (IFLR) at Michigan State University, and the attendees from King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, where everyone was looking forward to enhancing cooperation through the exchanges of experiences and related studies.

Dubai International Food Safety Conference is one of the most important conferences worldwide. This year, more than 3,000 food safety experts participated in the conference to discuss the latest developments in modern legislation and regulations in the field over three days.

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to enable regulatory bodies in Abu Dhabi to raise the quality of exports and products traded locally, and to promote a culture of quality, industrial development, competitiveness and consumer safety by enabling regulators to develop and implement product safety, legal standards and conformity programs. The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council also sets guidelines and standards to verify that products manufactured and traded in the Emirate conform to the highest standards of safety, quality and conformity.
