Middle East's leading systems integrator bolsters management team in key growth market
Dubai, 28 September 2010: Computer Data Networks (CDN), a wholly owned subsidiary of e-Portal Holding Co., has announced the appointment of Mr. Loay Almalaieka as Vice President of Operations for the company's growing business in Iraq. Mr Almalaieka began in his new role at the beginning of August 2010 at the company's Baghdad office.
CDN has a long and successful track record of working with Iraqi Government agencies on projects such as the implementation of national voice gateways and internet exchanges, and management of Iraq's national fibre optic network. Mr Almalaieka brings over 18 years' experience in the telecommunications industry to build on this success and continue to grow CDN's presence as the Middle East's leading systems integrator.
Ms. Hanya S. Al-Thekair, Managing Partner of CDN said "We are committed to the long term development of our operations in Iraq. Mr Almalaieka's appointment underlines this commitment and we welcome him as a valuable addition to our team. Following the successful launch of our fibre optic services across Iraq in 2009, we are now looking forward to launching the second phase of this program. Once completed, the country will be fully equipped with a modern and robust optical communications infrastructure using the most up-to-date technologies".
Mr Almalaieka joins CDN from Itisaluna Iraq, a wireless fixed voice and data operator based in Baghdad, where he was chief executive officer. A well known presenter on the future of telecommunications, he will be speaking on behalf of CDN at Iraq Telecoms 2010 in Istanbul in November 2010.
CDN has more than 20 years' experience working with clients across the Gulf and Iraq on their infrastructure requirements. The company is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of Iraq's national fibre optic network, which covers all of the major cities in Iraq and is connected to the outside world via a number of gateways.
CDN's first phase programme included an assessment study of the fibre optic system already in place in the country; completion, repair and restoration of the network; provision of ISP operations in three provinces (Basrah, Thi Qar and Meesan); and execution of other projects such as the implementation of national voice gateways and internet exchanges. CDN has worked closely with the Ministry of Communications and The Iraqi Postal and Telecommunications Company to deliver these projects throughout the country.
