Record Visitors and High Calibre Candidates Reported by Exhibitors for Career Opportunities in All Industry Sectors
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - The 11th Careers UAE exhibition ended on a high note this year with exhibitors reporting increased numbers of job seekers to their stands and an unprecedented number of career positions filled during the three day show. 17,031 visitors flocked to the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre to take advantage of the many career development activities for UAE nationals conducted by leading private and public sector organisations. Hundreds of jobs of UAE nationals were on offer during the show.
Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Careers UAE is the most established recruitment, training and education exhibition for UAE nationals. More than 130 exhibitors represented a record 11 industry sectors this year, ranging from banking & finance, to aviation, government & semi-government, IT, oil & gas, hospitality, transport, telecommunications, education & recruitment, trade & commerce and training & HR.
"Careers UAE 2011 signalled a new era in the employment landscape of the UAE as talented and qualified UAE nationals capitalised on hundreds of career opportunities showcased during the show. The role of the exhibition in facilitating networking opportunities between organisations and potential candidates has been extraordinarily successful and we are delighted to be delivering tangible results," said Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of the show.
Ershaad, the pioneering online career portal exclusively for UAE Nationals and provider of Emiratisation support to UAE employers across all industries and emirates, reported outstanding results during the show. Mohammad Kadoura, Executive Director, Ershaad explained: "The exhibition was very well organised and helped to facilitate the challenge we set to offer 200 jobs through on-the-spot interviews during the show. By the start of the second day of the exhibition there were already more than 50 nationals in the final stages of being recruited."
Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Human Resources and Shared Services Officer, du, said; "Our participation in this year's event generated more than 2500 applications from Emiratis. We are proud and honored to receive such a high level of interest in our company from talented applicants. We have set up a dedicated team to review candidature of all applicants and will get in touch with those best suited for du or the Masar challenge. This year we have 100 career opportunities available for fresh graduates and look forward to filling all the positions. In addition to the many multi-national and private organisations, a number of government and municipal organisations present at the show highlighted the diverse range of opportunities for UAE nationals. H.E. Brigadier General Essa Al Ali, Director of UAE Air Force and Defence Force said: "Careers UAE is a key platform to meet nationals and brief them about the exceptional work environment offered by the UAE Air Force and Defence Force. Whatever their interests and ambitions, candidates will find a rewarding career here."
Lamees Yaghi, Senior HR Executive of the Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Office highlighted the importance of Careers UAE: "This is a vital exhibition for the youth of the Emirates. We have participated for the past three years and every year we introduce new initiatives and programmes."
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank enjoyed an exceptionally active three days at the show, hosting a dynamic breakfast session on the final day, and making a number of job offers to successful candidates. Waheed Al Khazraji, Head of Human Resources Department, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank said: "We make sure each year to exhibit at Careers UAE and are pleased to be Platinum Sponsor this year. It is one of the most notable platforms to showcase employment and educational opportunities and an ideal way to strengthen the banking sector with qualified UAE nationals."
Suhaila Al Jasme, Learning & Development Academy Manager at National Bank of Abu Dhabi, this year's Gold Sponsor and Passport Trail Sponsor, was pleased with the outcome of the show: "Attendance this year has been excellent with well qualified candidates and Emiratis who are genuinely seeking jobs."
Companies participating at the exhibition included Commercial Bank of Dubai (Silver Sponsor), Al Rostamani Group, Al Tayer Group, DEWA, du, Dubai Duty Free, Emirates Airline, Etisalat, General Holding Corporation and investment company Tawazun, while a number of international training and academic institutions and professional bodies highlighted opportunities for improving skills and gaining internationally accredited qualifications.
The schedule of activities during Careers UAE included the AIESEC Leadership Forum, which focused on empowering Emirati youth with the confidence to make well-informed life choices and develop their career goals, and the Emirati Women Leaders Forum, introduced in partnership with Dubai Women Establishment, which highlighted the success of women in the UAE and showcased them as role models for the younger generation.
"Lunch with Leaders", hosted by Careers UAE, brought business leaders from a variety of industries together with ambitious Emirati students to discuss careers from both ends of the spectrum. The initiative proved highly successful for both students and business leaders. Michael Mansour, Director, Developer Platform & Technology, Microsoft Gulf said: "It's important for all of us in the business community to reach out to young, promising Emirati students. Microsoft appreciates opportunities like "Lunch with Leaders" to forge new connections while exposing students to matters that are top of mind for our business."
