"Your ATM Card Has another Dimension"

Once again, Bahrain Islamic Bank (BIsB), the first Islamic Bank in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has emphasized today its full commitment towards supporting the call for public participation in solidarity with the brotherly people of Lebanon against the present heinous aggression, which is taking place in Lebanon.

After its recent internal campaign to raise donations from employees and its noble initiative to double the amount of donation, BIsB has announced today another unprecedented humanitarian initiative in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Under the theme of "Your ATM Card Has another Dimension", BIsB has announced today that all charges generated from ATM services, collected by the bank from BIsB non-customers who use BIsB ATM services on Saturday, July 29th 2006 will be donated to support the brotherly people of Lebanon.

BIsB Manager Corporate Communications, Mr. Khalid Alkhayat, said "the bank had the honor to pursue its humanitarian initiatives in support of the sincere efforts, which aim to enhance public solidarity with the Lebanese people during their current hardship".

"In continuation of the first humanitarian campaign, which BIsB has recently launched internally to raise donations from bank employees, we have decided to open the door for public participation in this noble campaign. BIsB strongly believes in the vital significance of public participation in such initiatives", Mr. Alkhayat said.

"BIsB believes there are many people who wish to assume a positive role in this campaign but they might not have enough time, at this time of need, to do so".

This has urged the bank to come up with this idea, which is creative, simple and free from any new procedures or surprises. The new initiative is mainly based on the Benefit Service available to customers of various banks in Bahrain to use ATM services at all banks using the Benefit Service", he continued.

"Every time a customer uses an ATM that doesn't belong to his bank, using the Benefit Service, an amount of 250 fils is deducted from his account and incurred by the Bank to whom this ATM machine belongs" Mr. Alkhayat explained.

"On the other hand, the ATM card issuing Bank will in turn pay another 250 fils to the Benefit company", he further added.

"Our aim is to ensure a strong public participation in our charitable campaign through BIsB step to donate all the fees generated from BIsB's ATM services on Saturday, July 29th 2006 throughout that day and for 24 hours and donate them to Lebanese people", Mr. Alkhayat further said.

"It is a mere humanitarian call offered by BIsB to all customers of other banks in Bahrain to use BIsB's ATM machines on Saturday 29th July 2006 (tomorrow) to take part in this charitable campaign." he added.

"Every transaction done by non-BIsB customers through BIsB ATM machines on that day will be a sort of donation, even if it wasn't' done directly by them", Mr. Alkhayat concluded.

BIsB operates the biggest local network among Islamic banks in Bahrain, covering 12 branches throughout the kingdom, in addition to operating 19 ATM machines, some of which are attached to branches, and some others which operate independently at Bahrain International Airport, Seef Mall, GOSI Complex, and the recently established Muharaq Club Fuel Station.
