Over 80 hot air balloons will take to the skies as part of Alpine town event

Dubai, UAE, 3 January, 2005: Switzerland's top hotel, the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, has launched special packages giving Middle East guests easy access to one of the world's most spectacular hot air ballooning events.

Kicking off on 22-30 January, the event gathers around 50,000 spectaculars each year at the small Alpine town of Chateau-D'Oex. Middle East travellers will be hypnotised by the sight of over 80 balloons of various sizes, shapes and colours floating peacefully over the crisp outline of the Swiss Alps.

The event is a challenge for the imagination and balloons shaped as animals and even birds will be on show alongside paragliders and adrenaline-filled air acrobatics demonstrations.

Other highlights include a children's day when kids are given a taste of hot air ballooning in a series of tethered flights and the 'Night Glow' show for which the slopes around the town will be illuminated by the balloons' burners and hundreds of candles.
