Partnerships key to meeting skill requirements

Isa Town, Bahrain - 3 November, 2010: Bahrain Polytechnic, the Kingdom's leading professional and technical training institution, received a high level delegation from the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) headed by its CEO Eng. Faisal Al-Mahroos. The purpose of the visit was to cement cooperation between both entities to ensure that future skill sets demanded as BAPCO advances plans for the future, can be met by the Bahrain Polytechnic.

Students at the institution are being trained in the latest world-class techniques and are engaging with almost every business and industry sector in the Kingdom to ensure that future job market demands are met by their highly qualified Bahraini graduates.

According to John Scott, founding CEO of the Bahrain Polytechnic, close interaction with industry is a major part of their strategy to ensure there is a talent pool of work-ready graduates available to fulfil future industry needs. "As an important part of the Kingdom's Education Reforms, identification of the skills sets required in the coming years is part of our mission at Bahrain Polytechnic. We are providing the highest levels of education and training to our graduates to fulfil those needs".

This latest meeting followed a MoU signed between Bapco and Bahrain Polytechnic earlier this year in the presence of both the Minister of Oil & Gas Affairs, Dr. Abdulhusain Bin Ali Mirza and the Chairman of Bahrain Polytechnic, Shaikh Mohammed Bin Issa Al Khalifa. At that time, both parties confirmed they will enter into a mutually beneficial arrangement whereby each will contribute to the success of the other, and ultimately to the economic and social prosperity of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The BAPCO delegation was briefed about the Bahrain Polytechnic and its latest developments, along with the various training programmes available. They also toured the campus, and were briefed on the work of the Career Employment Centre and the services it provides.
