Dubai-UAE: 4 October, 2016 The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) is set to participate in the upcoming third edition of the Global Islamic Economy Summit (GIES). Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event will take place on October 1112 in the Madinat Jumeirah.

Themed Inspiring Change, the annual forum will convene a number of participants including decision makers, experts, keynote speakers and researchers to discuss various aspects of an Islamic economy. In light of the strong progress Islamic economy has made in the past few years and the future growth expectations of its sectors, the summit will explore potential business opportunities and ways to achieve social development. The agenda will additionally examine how business ethics in investments helps pave the way for sustainable development.

His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais, AMAF Secretary General, will participate in a panel discussion entitled Philanthropy in the Muslim World, scheduled on October 11 at 10:05 in Madinat Jumeirah Arena. Joining him will be Clare Woodcraft, CEO of Emirates Foundation, and Maysa Jalbout, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education.

As one of the summits most prominent partners, AMAF will have its own stand at the event, showcasing its endowment management efforts as well as its educational, social and charity projects and initiatives. AMAFs officials will also be at hand to explain the Foundations offerings to visitors and share their expertise.

Furthermore, AMAF will also host a dedicated stand to highlight the salma humanitarian relief program, one of Dubai Islamic Economy Development Center (DIEDC) initiatives. Based on sustainable waqf, the cross-border project is part of Dubais strategy to emerge as the global capital of Islamic economy. The salma initiative provides pre-packed halal meals to victims of wars and conflicts around the world regardless of their race, color or religion. The stand at GIES 2016 will define the salma programs vision and objectives to visitors, while spotlighting its achievements since its launch in 2014.

The first Global Islamic Economy Summit took place in November 2013 under the supervision of the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Center (DIEDC), and in collaboration with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Thomson Reuters. Starting out as a biennial event, the summit was so successful and elicited such amount of global interest that in 2015 the organizers decided to convene it as an annual gathering.
