Dubai, May 6, 2014. The School of Engineering at the American University in Dubai (AUD) announced the availability of scholarships for Fall 2014 semester admission to the Masters of Science in Construction Management Program (MSCM) offered at the university.

"As the explosive growth of development and infrastructure fuels new construction management challenges, AUD's School of Engineering is leveraging its deep faculty expertise in Construction Management, and the strength of its Civil Engineering department, to offer a world-class accredited graduate studies program, focusing on developing a new generation of scholars and leaders to advance the construction industry," comments Dr. Alaa Ashmawy, Dean of AUD's School of Engineering.

These competitive scholarships will provide a 50% tuition discount for graduate students enrolling and completing the MSCM program, and will be awarded based on technical knowledge, GRE scores, undergraduate GPA and work experience. In order to be considered, applications must be submitted by July 1, 2014, along with a statement of purpose expressing merits and career goals. "The new scholarships will reinforce the value of this program as a means to provide the talent the industry will need to sustain and expand long-term growth," says Ashmawy.

Designed for Civil and Construction Engineering professionals, the program also serves executives with experience in such areas as Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Real Estate Development and Project Management. While modular scheduling, evening classes and English-language instruction allows part-time professionals to participate, the program appeals in particular to English-speaking UAE nationals as well as expatriates wishing to pursue full-time graduate studies in Dubai. Candidates will typically have a Bachelor or equivalent degree in Engineering, and work experience in the construction sector.

Supported by the AUD School of Engineering world-class facilities and resources, the MSCM program fills in a regional gap in graduate-level construction management education and research. Full-time faculty members and professionals with extensive industry experience have taught the program at American University in Dubai campus since September 2012. 

The MSCM consists of a set of core courses covering discipline-specific topics such as Construction Scheduling, Estimating, Equipment and Methods, and addressing broader-context subjects including Decision Science, Finance and Accounting, and Construction Laws. A broad range of electives is offered in the areas of Construction Safety, Computer Modeling, Sustainable Engineering, and management of megaprojects among others.
