Khalifa Bin Salman Port, Hidd, Bahrain - APM Terminals Bahrain has re-certified its quality management systems (revised ISO 9001:2015 standard) as part of its port master plan to maintain the highest performance standards for customers and continuously improve business processes.
Established in 2006, APM Terminals Bahrain operates Khalifa Bin Salman Port and provides marine services within Bahrain and its coastal waters including container terminal activities, general cargo, RoRo, cruise and related port services.
APM Terminals Bahrain is among a select few organisations in the Kingdom to complete transition to the revised ISO 9001:2015 standard notably ahead of the 2018 deadline. The certification represents an endorsement of APM Terminals Bahrain’s adherence to international best practices, industry policies and its capability to preempt risks and opportunities. It is based on quality management principles which include a strong customer focus, data-based decision making, leadership commitment, process approach and continual improvement.
Mark Hardiman, CEO of APM Terminals Bahrain said, “We are delighted to be granted ISO 9001:2015 accreditation again and strengthen our commitment to global standards with the highest levels of business performance and customer satisfaction. This achievement has also helped us establish a framework for continual improvement through better process flow, quality awareness and safety protocols, all of which have enabled us to contribute to the economic growth of the Kingdom and our customer portfolio.”
A large number of projects are currently underway as part of the company’s continuous improvement program which uses “Lean and Six Sigma Methodology”. Among the recently completed projects is the re-organization of the Container Freight Shed (CFS) that has improved efficiency and reduced waiting time for customers which includes traders that are owners of small to medium sized business in Bahrain. APM Terminals Bahrain has been an ISO 9001 certified organization since 2010. The current ISO 9001:2015 accreditation will be valid until 2019 and audits will be conducted annually to monitor and confirm adherence to the newly revised standards.
