ADIPEC 2008 (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference) is set to open its doors on 3 November at ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre). Placing Abu Dhabi firmly in the global oil and gas industry spotlight, ADIPEC will bring together a grand assembly of sheikhs, local and overseas ministers, dignitaries and top industry executives from around the world.
Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, ADIPEC 2008 will take place from 3 to 6 Nov.
Launched in 1984, ADIPEC has grown into one of the most important and influential events for the global oil and gas community and this, the 13th event, is the biggest yet. ADIPEC provides a platform for companies to make significant business deals and new contacts, and the 1,500 exhibitors will use the opportunity to showcase their technological excellence, latest equipment and services to the expected 40,000 visitors who are scheduled to attend over the four days. Announcements are expected on some key new technologies, including optimal recovery, health and safety and oil spill control.
ADIPEC 2008 has very high level international support, with a number of ministers and diplomats due to attend from the Middle East and internationally, including the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Canada and the Czech Republic. In addition, the number of national pavilions has risen to 18, with debut appearances from Saudi Arabia, Norway and South Korea.
David Drake, business development director at dmg world media, the organizers of ADIPEC, said, "ADIPEC 2008 has broken all previous records, and puts the global oil and gas industry spotlight firmly on Abu Dhabi. We have been overwhelmed by the interest in this year's event - which is even more impressive given the global economic situation.
"There has been growth across the board, with uplift in exhibitors, national pavilions and exhibition space, conference papers and delegates. We have successfully overcome a number of challenges and ADIPEC 2008 looks set to be a great event for exhibitors, delegates and visitors alike."
ADIPEC is unique in that it is the only international oil and gas show that brings together exhibitors from across the industry spectrum, including: national oil and gas companies, such as ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, Petroleum Development Oman, Kuwait Petroleum, Qatar Petroleum, Jogmec, Statoil Hydro, SINOPEC, Dolphin Energy and GAZPROM; global energy giants including ExxonMobil, BP, Shell, Conoco, Occidental and Total; world-leading oil and gas services companies including Baker Hughes, Schlumberger, Weatherford and Halliburton; in addition to EPC contractors, manufacturers of oil and gas equipment and service providers.
The ADIPEC 2008 conference programme has the overall theme of "Working Together to Deliver Sustainable Growth: Innovative Teams and Technology Deployment", and will focus on some of the key issues facing the oil and gas industry. Over 250 expert speakers, including CEOs from the world's leading energy and related companies, will participate in two executive plenary sessions, 10 expert panel sessions, 26 technical presentation sessions and poster sessions. The topics range from The Peak Oil Debate to Sustainability, and The Changing Face of the Petrodollar to Technology Deployment in a Collaborative Environment.
Ali Al Jarwan, the ADIPEC conference Chairman said, "The 2008 conference programme is the most far reaching ever, and is set to provoke some inspiring discussions. We received a massive 843 abstracts from all over the world, and from that we have identified and handpicked some of the most influential international speakers in their field. They will lead the debate on the hottest topics for the oil and gas industry, and the outcomes of the panels will undoubtedly help to shape the policy for the future.
ADIPEC is the world's leading oil and gas exhibition and conference and is ideal for exchange of best practice, transfer of technology and for networking among the industry professionals, managers and leaders essential for the continuous improvement of the oil and gas industry. ADIPEC is reflecting the status of Abu Dhabi as a knowledge hub for the oil and gas industry.
"Having set the stage for companies to come to Abu Dhabi to make business deals, forge new contacts, showcase their technologies and services, and to get involved in strategic and policy-shaping discussions, we are confident that ADIPEC 2008 will be a resounding success."
