Extensive electronic sources such as the Oxford Reference Online, the Encyclopaedia Britannica, the Emerald EMX and the EBSCO Academic Search Premier at the service of students and researchers

Abu Dhabi, 16th September 2007 - Abu Dhabi University's (ADU) library has expanded powerful online research services in time for the new academic year. The library's powerful online tools are available to ADU's students as well as any interested researcher in the community. ADU's newly added electronic sources present the requisite book titles that support various curriculum courses such as the MBA program, MA in Computer Science, MA in Education, MA in Linguistics and MA in Educational Leadership. Furthermore, these online databases, e-books and e-journals are part of the approval criteria ADU needs to obtain accreditation for its future planned programs.

"ADU's Khalifa City Campus Library is a well-equipped, modern, spacious new library with state of the art computer/internet facilities geared toward providing the most efficient library services to its students, faculty members, researchers and visitors," Mr. Dick E. Orense, Head of ADU Library commented. "The same is also true for our Al Ain campus library. The newly added internationally renowned electronic resources puts ADU's library on par with internationally accredited American and European university libraries."

The latest addition to ADU's online database systems is the Emerald EMX 95, which is one of the electronic resource requirements by the faculty of the College of Business Administration and for Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) programs as well. EMX packages include the Emerald Management Review that provides over 300 top international management journals abstracts thereby reducing research time and effort.

Some of the EMX95's highlights are the perpetual right to access full texts covering at least 10 years of back files. The perpetual right means once a text is received, anybody can access it anytime without any limitations.

Other exclusive features are the "online early" and "no embargo" parameters, which makes it possible for titles to be accessed before appearing on bookstore shelves - hardcopies availability is not necessary to gain the rights to e-copies of any given title. These unique services are made possible at ADU through a direct cooperation with the UK-based Emerald Publishing locally availed via Integrated Information Network (IIN).

An additional powerful tool is the massive Oxford reference online premium collection- a vast reference literature library at the researchers' finger tips with over one million entries across 25 subject areas. This impressive literature collection ranges over a comprehensive set of classics detailing literature from the 18th century Germany, France and Italy to Edwardian England to 20th Century America and beyond. Fairy tales, Chaucer, Crime and Mystery Writing and Women's Writings are some of the study areas covered in this collection.

ADU's library Electronic resources can be remotely accessed by students, faculty members and researchers in a number of ways including via access to ADU's ONLINE LIBRARY or through the website of the University.
