The First Certified Property Development Training Programme a success
Manama, Bahrain - The Internationally certified training course organised by the Bahrain Property Developers Association (BaPDA) and Tamkeen has ended today (June 9, 2011) with great success.
Vice President of BaPDA Dr. Hassan Al Bastaki said, "By handing over the certificates today to the 30 participants together with Tamkeen represented by Dr. Ahmed Abdul Ghani Al Shaikh - Vice President-Enterprise & Human capital our mission is accomplished successfully in organising and conducting the first of its kind training course for property developers in Bahrain.
"We were overwhelmed by the response from the property developing companies in Bahrain and the property developers themselves as the course were intended to create a very much needed pool of well qualified and trained professionals in the sector. At the moment, though we have a lot of talent here, there is a dearth of qualified Bahrainis. This course will address that gap, increasing the employability of Bahrainis in property development and real estate. It will be the first step in a programme planned with our partner, Tamkeen to create new opportunities to nurture and empower the local workforce. BaPDA and Tamkeen have agreed to work together to conduct workshops and certification courses to improve property development training with higher professional standards. The extremely encouraging response from companies in Bahrain has shown that we have addressed a real need, and this foresees well for our efforts to create a talent pool, as well as for the industry in general."
Dr. Hassan Al Bastaki thanked Tamkeen and its team for their hard work and help all through the preparation time of this training course, hoping for more collaboration with Tamkeen in the near Future. He also extended his thanks and good wishes to the graduates for showing high commitment and dedication, wishing them the best of luck in their future.
The 5 day intensive specialised programme was conducted by the prestigious Institute for International Research (IIR) Middle East, a part of Informa plc, a leading international provider of specialist information and services for the academic and scientific, professional and commercial business communities. The course had on its agenda all elements of property development from research and planning to the final stages of development and marketing.
In this regards Ms Tahera Qudrat Rasti - Edama- said "how happy she was to be part of this Training Course, the first of its kind in Bahrain" and has asked for more of specialised courses and workshop in the field of Property Development.
On the other hand Mr. Yousif Ahmed Mustafa - Durrat Al Bahrain - mentioned how happy he was with the expertise knowledge the instructor showed during the 4 days of the course plus using real life case studies as examples and the expertise of the high level property development delegates had enriched the course.

The Bahrain Property Development Association (BaPDA) is a non-profit organisation established in 2010 with the vision of becoming the Kingdom of Bahrain's recognised property development association. It is a representative organisation that will foster infrastructure services, cooperation, fair trade practices and integrity among its members, while providing a platform for members to liaise with the government authorities in forming best practice policies relating to the industry.
At a meeting held to launch the organisation and attended by 17 CEOs and senior management officials from major development companies in the Kingdom it was agreed unanimously on the need for such an organisation that would serve to bring them together effectively to benefit the industry in Bahrain. BaPDA has pledged to organise, sponsor, and participate, in regional and international meetings, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and general networking events to promote the property development industry of Bahrain. It has promised to honor the industry's commitment to the country and participate with all resources available, in the preservation of all aspects of Bahrain's infrastructural, social, cultural and environmental growth.
Tamkeen
Tamkeen is a semi-autonomous yet independent authority which formulates strategic and operational plans to enhance the overall prosperity of Bahrain by investing in Bahraini employability, job creation and social support. Tamkeen is funded by the fees collected by the LMRA.
Tamkeen's main objectives are to support Bahrainis to become the employees of choice, and to support high quality private sector job creation
To achieve these objectives, Tamkeen will invest in the cost and quality competitiveness of Bahrainis (e.g., reduction of cost of employing Bahrainis relative to expatriates, investment in skill and work ethic development programmes of Bahrainis); in tackling employment barriers on both employer and labour market entrants' sides through a combination of financial incentives and capability building, and in supporting the private sector's adjustment to new cost structures by providing access to capital to alleviate short term cash constraints or improve productivity, and in know-how initiatives that support improvements in productivity and decreased reliance on expatriate labour through spreading management and technical knowledge.
Tamkeen has invested more than BD 140 million in more than 70 projects targeting 45,000 Bahrainis and 9,000 enterprises. Programmes are continuously being devised as per Tamkeen's strategy and the numbers of beneficiaries are continuously increasing.
