Annual inflation in Morocco's consumer prices slowed to 7.8% in April from 8.2% a month earlier, driven by food inflation, Morocco's statistics agency HCP said on Monday.

Food prices rose by 16.3% from a year earlier, while non-food inflation was at 2%. On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose by 1.4%.

Core inflation, which excludes more volatile prices, stood at 7.6% year-on-year and 0.3% month-on-month. (Reporting by Ahmed Eljechtimi; Editing by Hugh Lawson)
