Video calls on Zoom will be available for free beyond the 40-minute limit in recognition of several upcoming holidays.
The standard limit on Zoom meetings for free users will be automatically lifted during and around Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year, particularly during the following dates and times:
10 am ET Thursday, December 17, to 6 am ET Saturday, December 19
10 am ET Wednesday, December 23, to 6 am ET Saturday, December 26
10 am ET on Wednesday, December 30, to 6 am ET on Saturday, January 2
"As a token of appreciation to our users during an extraordinary time, we're removing the 40-minute limit on free Zoom accounts for all meetings globally for several upcoming special occasions," the company said on its website.
Free account users on Zoom normally have only up to 40 minutes to do video calls. With the limit lifted, users will be able to do unlimited virtual meetings or get-togethers with colleagues, families and friends.
"Whether coming together on the final day of Hanukkah, celebrating Christmas, ringing in the New Year, or marking the last days of Kwanzaa, those connecting with friends and family won't get cut short," the firm said.
