SANA’A – The Minister of Culture & Tourism Khaled Al-Rwoashan officially re-opened last Thursday (30/10/2003) the Sam City Hotel after renovations and new improvements were completed. A new restaurant, coffee shop, and function room with a capacity for 500 persons, were added to the hotel. Improvements to rooms and suites, including new modern facilities were also added to the hotel. The cost of these improvements amounted to YR 72 million. The hotel has a superb location, situated in the heart of the capital Sana’a. Businessmen and officials from the Ministry of Culture & Tourism expressed their admiration at the new improvements that surely qualify the hotel to the list of top Yemen hotels.

Mohammed Yahya Al-Hifi, Manager of the Sam City Hotel, expressed his happiness at the re-opening of the hotel, hoping for a bright future for tourism in Yemen. He commented that tourism has suffered a hard blow during the pervious period because of developments in the region. Al-Hifi expressed his hope that tourism would be better managed under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism and its minister Khaled Al-Rwoashan who pays much needed attention to the tourism sector.

Al-Hifi concluded that the hotel would work hard to enhance the tourism sector through promotion and marketing inside and outside the country. He added that the hotel has received bookings for tourist groups next December, and the hotel would be doubling its campaigns of marketing and promotion inside and outside of Yemen immediately. The hotel has a contract with the Europe Car Company that offers car rental services for clients of the hotel. The hotel is also in partnership with the Al-Mamon tourism Agency. The opening ceremony was attended by Mustafa Taqi, Chairman of the General Authority for Tourism Development and a number of businessmen and women from the field of tourism.
