Damascus - A workshop on the origin regulations and customs tariffs in the framework of the World Trade organization (WTO) started on Monday in Damascus, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Trade in cooperation with the German Invent Establishment.

Assistant Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Ghassan Habash underlined importance of the workshop and its role in training the participants on preparing the special files on Syria's joining the WTO, pointing out to the positive cooperation between Syria and German companies in this filed.

He added that Syria has taken a set of measures to join the WTO, starting with preparation and rehabilitation of the needed cadres in cooperation with the donors.

The forty participants, who will be in charge of negotiations of Syria's joining the WTO, are attending the 4-day workshop.
