THI-QAR: Work was resumed in the second passage of the road that links the two cities of Nassiriya and Kut, with a total length of 85 km and a cost of 64.5 billion Iraqi dinars, in addition to an execution period of 16 months, director of Thi-Qar roads and bridges management said on Monday.

"Work in this project had commenced in 2002," Engineer Abdulkareem Qaiss told Aswat al-Iraq.

"Increase in prices after the military operations in 2003 stopped the project," he added.

Nassiriya, the capital city of Thi-Qar province, lies 385 km south of Baghdad.
