AMMAN -- Twenty-one Jordanian women entrepreneurs have successfully completed the second round of the Arab Women's Entrepreneurship Project, a Citi Foundation-funded initiative.

These women benefited from training provided by AMIDEAST on basic business accounting, professional development, customer support and the use of technology for business growth, organisers of the project said Wednesday during a ceremony to announce the completion of the second round.

Those who benefited from the project include women who work in pottery design and decoration, and others who use recycled olive wood to make unique, hand-made accessories.

Participants in the project also included those who work in traditional embroidery and handicrafts, while some have opened income-generating projects such as salons, gyms and groceries.

"Our strategic alliance with AMIDEAST ensures that aspiring entrepreneurs in Jordan will have the chance to lead successful businesses and contribute to job creation in their markets," Mayank Malik, CEO of Citibank Jordan and Iraq, said at the ceremony.

AMIDEAST Jordan Country Director Dana Shuqom thanked the Citi Foundation for its support.

"We salute Citi Foundation for its commitment to supporting entrepreneurs in the region and in Jordan, in particular," she said.

"We value our partnership, which has allowed us to bring
AMIDEAST's experience of over 50 years in empowering youth and women to supporting the aspirations of these entrepreneurial women," Shuqom added.
