Dubai, 1st May 2012 (WAM) -- Al Baraha Hospital began the first phase implementation of Wareed system according to a specified schedule and timeline to cover all the health facilities with this new electronic service.

Nasser Khelifa Al Budoor, Assistant Undersecretary and Director of Dubai Medical District, stated that Al Baraha Hospital is now fully operation to provide healthcare services through using the latest electronic medical services, noting that the hospital has been fully equipped with the latest infrastructure.

He said: "The application of the health information system in the hospital coincides with a series of training programs for all the users and the preparation of a technical support center in the hospital's building to answer all the queries round the clock".

Al Budoor emphasized that the information system "Wareed" is a leading step as it aims for raising the health standards in all the medical districts and applying the project in all the ministry's hospitals and health centers. With the implementation of Wareed in Al Baraha hospital; the total number of hospitals which completed the project is 11 hospitals in Dubai and northern regions.

Ahmed Obaid Khodaim, Director of Al Baraha Hospital, emphasized that the medical team has been trained for two months and will continue to apply the new advanced electronic system begins "Wednesday 2nd May".

"We also informed the visitors that there might be delays in the registration procedures in the beginning therefore the hospital will prepare a new electronic file for each visitor for the first time", he said.

Al Khodaim requested all the visitors of the hospital to be patient and cooperate with the hospital's administration and understand that this is an initial phase which needs from transfer from paper files to electronic ones. The visitors must show their health and ID cards during their first visit to complete their electronic registration. After the completion of Wareed, the project will improve the standards of health services in the ministry's facilities, hospitals and health centers too.

Wareed is considered one of the first health system projects to be implemented in Al Baraha hospital and will improve the health information systems in all the ministry's hospitals and health centers. The system is a leading project in the field of healthcare services in the UAE as it applies the strategy of the ministry in improving the healthcare services through an electronic advanced health system.

The three year initiative aims for raising the healthcare standards in all the medical facilities in the UAE including 15 hospitals and health clinics through establishing a central automated system that would improve the health care services according to international standards. The project is implemented by one of the biggest specialized companies in the field of healthcare services "I-capital".

The new information system will connect all the x-ray, labs, pharmacy surgery, emergency and registration and appointment departments together. The central automated system will be in Abu Dhabi to connect all the hospitals through a high speed advanced electronic network.

Wareed will also upgrade the office applications in all the medical facilities and at the same time establish a support office which will provide all the needed assistance to the employees. It will also launch a new webpage to be useful for the audience, patients, doctors and the employees as well.
