KUWAIT: Health Ministry sources told Al-Rai newspaper that the ministry is studying the imposition of medical checkups on visit visa holders coming to visit the country in a step to control communicable diseases.
The sources said that some of these arrivals are able to obtain work permits and stay in the country, which constitutes an additional factor in the spread of diseases. The sources pointed to the need to take this important step as a preventive measure.
The sources gave the example of a Nigerian football player who was quarantined on suspicion of contracting Ebola. Although tests proved he was free of the disease, he was prevented from entering the country until the Ministry of Health agreed to allow him in.
