Abu Dhabi, Feb 8th, 2010 (WAM) -- The depth and range of the Vision 2021 unveiled by the UAE Cabinet after its marathon session in Liwa are breathtaking. The historic document captures almost every facet of the complex exercise of nation building, and caters to the unique requirements of this young country, commented a UAE daily.

"The lucidity in the articulation of the development trajectory that the country envisions in the next 11 years is a testimony to the commitment of the UAEs leaders to their peoples welfare", said Dubai-based English language newspaper "Khaleej Times" in its today's editorial.

The national charter forcefully states its objective: the UAE wants to gift the best of everything to its people by becoming one of the best countries in the world by 2021, when it will be celebrating its golden jubilee.

The charter draws the broad contours of the roadmap that the country intends to take in realising those goals, it added.

The Vision 2021 recognises that the UAEs eminent global standing is because of what it has achieved in the short span of 30 years. At the same time it also reminds them that "an ambitious nation like ours cannot achieve its goals by resting on its past laurels."The charter seeks to make the "UAE one of the best places in the world to do business." This emphasis on excellence and the best of everything has always been the cornerstone of the countrys policy. The Vision 2021 seeks to build on this strength of the UAEs institutions and achievements, the paper observed.

The document lays extensive emphasis on unity and cohesion of the Federation, as well as on the shared destiny of the citizens. The country will follow an inclusive model of development by ensuring an equitable growth not only between the regions, but among the citizens as well.

Strong families and communities, moderate Islamic values and rich heritage have been identified as the key assets to retain the UAE as a vibrant society. The Emiratis are urged to confidently engage the world, without being apprehensive about the homogenising influences of globalisation.

The paper concluded by saying that "The assurances on empowerment of women, protection of environment, and development of education and health sectors are some of the distinct facets of the charter. On the whole, the document gives another occasion to Emiratis to reinforce their enthusiasm about the future and the confidence in the vision of those who steer their destiny. Coming as it does at a time of all this talk of doom and gloom in international media, the new policy document acts like a roadmap underscoring the determination of a young nation to pursue the path of progress and development. Way to go, UAE! An other English language newspaper " Gulf News" commenting on the same issue has said in its editorial that "The key to long term success in the UAE is the ability of the UAE nationals to match their country's lofty goals, and in this week's National Charter for 2021 the government articulated a demanding challenge to the people of the UAE to recognise that development is about society. Economic prosperity, and great wealth among the UAE population are ends in themselves. They are important only as contributing factors in helping the UAE achieve its aims".

"The government is right to make the best education possible its top priority, so that the growing national population is able to meet the challenges of the 21st century", the paper added.

"The National Charter for 2021 is a demanding set of social goals that set the underlying context for every UAE ministry's plans and every UAE citizen's ambitions. It is a brave definition of the inclusive purpose of government and it is a denial of selfish venality" it concluded.
