JEDDAH - Visa, one of the world's largest retail electronic payments networks, has announced the launch of a month-long risk awareness campaign for consumers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The 'Be Card Wise and Be Card Safe' campaign is designed to highlight Visa's security and fraud prevention initiatives and educate consumers on how they can protect themselves when using electronic payment cards at all points of sale, including both online and offline transactions.

Electronic payments are growing rapidly in Saudi Arabia, and Visa is supporting this trend by actively leading educational and brand building efforts, including efforts to open Debit BINs (Bank Identification Number) for online transactions.

Ahmed Gaber, Country Manager - KSA, Visa, said: "Safety and security have always been at the heart of all of Visa's initiatives and the objective of this campaign is to raise awareness about how consumers can protect themselves when using electronic payment cards."

Visa's risk management services include Verified by Visa (VbV), a password protected authentication system designed to confirm the identity of the cardholder when a Visa card is used online; Visa Advanced Authorization (VAA) / Visa Risk Manager (VRM), a combined solution for comprehensive fraud prevention that enables card issuing financial institutions to better identify and potentially stop fraud at the check-out before it occurs globally; and, Vital Signs, an analytic engine that not only alerts Visa clients on unusual ATM withdrawal patterns but also blocks further transactions on the cards if the threshold limits defined in Vital Signs are breached.

Neil Fernandes, Head of Risk Services, Visa - Middle East & North Africa, said: "With over 89 billion transactions processed through Visa every year, we understand the responsibility we have to protect those who use our network. We employ multiple layers of security that work together to help us prevent and manage fraud, and we will continue to develop and deploy new and innovative programs to protect Visa cardholders.
