Manama: The US Navy has installed a $1.5 million (Dh5.51 million) Littoral Combat Laser Shot Weapons Simulator (LCLSWS) in its naval facility in Bahrain to train and qualify sailors both in land and water gunnery to support security operations in the US Fifth Fleet area of responsibility.
"The LCLSWS consists of a boat crew and gunnery, and a vehicular convoy and gunnery simulator that is interchangeable.
Each is fitted with mock-up crew stations and gun mount positions for crew-served weapons and mount to a motion platform surrounded by eight large screens that provide realistic virtual environments. The control station attached to the LCLSWS allows instructors to create realistic training scenarios," the US Navy said in a statement sent to Gulf News.
