(Adds details of the latest contract and previous orders)

SEOUL (Dow Jones)--SK Engineering & Construction Co. said Wednesday it has received a $2.1 billion order from Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co., or Takreer, to build an oil refining plant in United Arab Emirates.

Takreer is a unit of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

SK E&C will build a crude distillation unit and other facilities in Ruwais, a city of UAE's capital Abu Dhabi. Construction will be completed by early 2014, the Korean company said in a statement.

For 2009, SK E&C has so far received more than $4 billion worth of overseas orders from seven nations, including a $820 million gas-compression plant in Abu Dhabi in March and a $420 million oil refining plant order from Saudi Arabia in July.

The gas compression plant ordered in March will be built in Habshan, Abu Dhabi, on a turnkey basis. The project--expected to take a total of 37 months to complete--will be able to produce an average of 2.25 billion cubic feet of gas daily.

Also in March, however, the Kuwait National Petroleum Co. canceled refinery orders worth $8.36 billion that it had awarded to a Japanese company and four South Korean builders, including a $2.06 billion contract with SK E&C.
