NIZWA -- The permanent envoys to the Unesco yesterday visited a number of historical and tourism landmarks in the wilayats of Nizwa, Bahla and Al Hamra of the Al Dakhiliyah region accompanied by Dr Moosa bin Mohammed Ja'afar, the Sultanate's permanent envoy to the Unesco; and Essa bin Khalaf Al Toobi, director of the Directorate of Education in Al Dakhiliyah region.
The delegation visited Al Hoota Cave in the wilayat of Al Hamrah; Bahla fort, which is one of the distinct landmarks included in the Unesco's World Heritage list; Jibreen Fort; Nizwa Fort; Nizwa traditional souq; and the Falaj of Daris.
Ina Marciulionyte, permanent ambassador of Lithuania to the Unesco expressed her delight over the Sultanate's historical and cultural landmarks and hailed the Sultanate's efforts in maintaining the heritage. Dr Adnan Al Ahmadi, assistant to envoy of Bahrain to the Unesco, also expressed his delight over the progress and comprehensive development witnessed in the Sultanate and the Sultanate's efforts in the preservation of cultural and historical identity.
