Dubai - The Dubai-based Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (Szabist) and the University of Luton, UK, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to explore the possibility of allowing Szabist students to continue their studies at Luton in computing, business and media.
The MoC was signed by Dr Javaid Laghari, Vice-President of Szabist, and Dr Stephen J. Pettitt, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Luton, in Dubai on Tuesday.
According to the MoC, Szabist and UoL will develop an agreement allowing students from Dubai Campus of Szabist to progress to programmes of study at the University of Luton in the academic area of Computing, Business and Media through either a 1+2, 2+2, 2+1 or 3+1 arrangement, programmes to start no later than September 2006.
The two institutions also plan to explore the possibility of developing collaboration in the areas of student exchange, staff exchange, research and access to reference materials. In addition, the institutions will evaluate the feasibility of collaborating in the delivery of Luton's 3-MBA programme through the Szabist campuses in Pakistan and Dubai.
The University of Luton and Szabist share a commitment to the provision of high quality education and both institutions recognise the value of the international dimension of their activities and the mutual development of research and teaching activities.
This Memorandum of Cooperation establishes the commitment of both Szabist and the University of Luton to pursue the possibility of developing closer academic links.By M. A. Qudoos
