London, April 1st, 2012 (WAM) -- The Rashid bin Humaid School, Ajman students have won the Big Science Challenge competition on their project about provision of fresh water in a contest held here in London recently.

The students were given the title of "Young Knights" on their top-drawer project on fresh water at the conclusion of the competition.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Ziad Ali, Science Teacher at Rashid bin Humaid School who accompanied the students, said that the jury awarded the three students the title of "Young Knights" on their vital project.

The winning team members Ahmad Obaid Al Shamsi, Khamis Ahmed Al Hammadi and Ismail Ibrahim Al Blooshi, designed a device to separate moisture in the air and transfer it to a storage tank. This served a number of purposes; by offering a solution to increase the fresh water supply; and at the same time offering a practical example of a renewable water source; and finally using a clean energy source to produce the energy required.

Earlier Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received the students at his palace, and wished them success in the competition emphasizing that participation in the international scientific competitions contribute in enhancing the reputation of the state.
