Dubai - Middle East will soon witness medical digital operating rooms from Sony Broad Cast and Professional Middle East, said Juergen Thiem, Senior Manager, Sony Healthcare Europe

Thiem, said: "The Digital Operating Room (DOR) is expected to increase the efficiency of doctors by atleast 25 per cent. The DOR is central operating room which is set up with cameras to record the operation. These images and video feed are captured and stored in DICOM and are made available on a central IP network. Live links of operations and endoscopic and surgical microscopes can be transmitted via videoconference to the doctor's office for a second opinion or to a conference room for educational needs, increasing doctor's knowledge and efficiency within hospitals and clinics."

Sony is one of the key drivers of High Definition (HD) cameras within the healthcare industry. The Sony HD HDC-X300, records the surgical procedure, which is stored and distributed through an HD Image Network. At Sony we believe that HD is the future for endoscopic cameras. This next generation solution sees procedures based on an HD infrastructure, providing greatly superior image quality and definition which is particularly relevant for putting high quality images in the hands of the surgeon, added Thiem.
