330-room hotel is second in Dubai and fifth in region for group

The Ritz-Carlton is to open its second Dubai hotel in the Dubai International Financial Centre, 7DAYS can reveal. The property (pictured) will be built by Union Properties, and managed by Ritz-Carlton once it is complete in 2008.

The hotel will host 330 rooms, and a further 121 serviced appartments.

The Ritz-Carlton Dubai, International Financial Centre, will be a contemporary 15-storey hotel, just off the Sheikh Zayed Road.

It promises a blend of "modern style and classic Arabic design". Several floors will be dedicated to the Ritz-Carlton Club, including a Club Lounge offering complimentary food and beverages to members.

Nestled in the heart of the DIFC development, the hotel will aim to capture many of the high-end business travelers who are expected to be regular visitors to the emerging financial hub.

The hotel boasts 2000 square metres of meetings and conferences facilities, including a 1,400 square metre ballroom, five meeting rooms and a boardroom.

The health club and spa will cover 2,100 metres, and will include two swimming pools, one outdoor, and one indoor.

"It will attract senior corporate executives traveling to Dubai to conduct business in this free trade zone," said Simon F Cooper, president and COO of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. "We have enjoyed great success with our Jumeirah Beach resort."
