UAE Offset Group Becomes OFFSET

The UAE Offset Group announced on 25 April that its name would henceforth be Offset Programme Bureau (OFFSET) as part of a corporate identity change. OFFSET’s CEO Muhammad al-Mazru΄i said the body would “continue its role as a conduit for effective and viable partnerships between defense contractors and local businessmen… By replacing the name with a simpler, more fitting one, and creating a new logo, we are establishing a new identity that better illustrates who we are and what are our objectives.” The UAE Offset Group represented the Abu Dhabi government in the preliminary stages of preparations for the Dolphin Project (MEES, 5 July 1999), before the establishment of Dolphin Energy. The latter holds a 51% stake in the project, with partners Total and Occidental Petroleum owning 24.5% each. The latest indications from Dolphin officials are that first gas from Qatar’s North Field will arrive in the UAE in June.
