ABU DHABI - The Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) yesterday launched its Smart Debit card, stated to be the first of its kind in the Middle East to offer cardholders a cash rebate on every purchase made, no matter how big or small.
It is also the first card in the UAE to utilise Smart Chip technology that provides for enhanced security against counterfeit card fraud.
"The Smart Debit card is the result of extensive research and development to deliver a unique debit card programme, offering an array of benefits designed to cater to the evolving needs of customers," said Eirvin Knox, CEO of ADCB.
Explaining the features of the card, he said that a minimum cash rebate of 0.25 per cent of the value of every purchase made with the card will be credited into the cardholder's account every month. Double cash rebates on every retail transaction made outside the country, cardholder prize draws and global access to bank accounts through 23 million MasterCard outlets and 900,000 global ATMs are among other attractions.
ADCB, which has selected MasterCard as its global partner for the initiative, will introduce the cards next month.BY A STAFF REPORTER
